Why Brownsville Should Start Recycling Today
According to the Ecology Action of Texas, the United States makes enough plastic film each year to shrink-wrap the state of Texas. That means that each year the majority of that plastic produced will end up in our landfills. There are many reasons to recycle, but that fact right there is enough to motivate us at RedFish Recycling.
The Ecology Action of Texas is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) membership organization dedicated to public education and community service. The organization has done extensive research on the waste and recycling habits of everyone here in Texas.
- Recycled enough aluminum to save 232,000 kilowatt hours of electricity.
- Recycled enough glass to save 4,432 gallons of fuel oil.
- Recycled enough paper to save 16,924 trees and 6.9 million gallons of water as well as 3,285 cubic yards of landfill space and 4 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Those are some impressive numbers, and we’re excited to be a part of the change going on in Texas. Although we’re still a young company, we’ve already seen great improvements with our clients. Businesses are using less, recycling more, and saving money.
